Ninja Creami Watermelon Sorbet
This easy watermelon sorbet recipe for the Ninja Creami is the perfect way to use up summer’s sweetest fruit. Made with fresh watermelon, a splash of lime, and your choice of sweetener, this naturally refreshing dessert takes just a few minutes to put together!

WHY I MADE THIS WATERMELON SORBET
I’ve had my Ninja Creami for almost two years now (it was a wedding gift from a friend, thanks friend!), but honestly I don’t use it as much as I used to. But over the weekend my mom gave me half of a watermelon, and when I tasted it it was so. incredibly. sweet. and I immediately knew what I had to do with it.
Make watermelon sorbet. In the Ninja Creami. Yes, I did it, and it turned out amazing!
This recipe is so easy to make, that it almost doesn’t need a recipe. You can easily make this Ninja Creami watermelon sorbet with just one ingredient: watermelon. But, of course I like to go the extra mile around here.
I start out with watermelon, obviously, but then I also like to add a squeeze of lime, and maybe even a sprinkle of sea salt at the end to really bring out all of the sweet flavors. Obviously, the key to making this recipe as delicious as possible is to use a really sweet watermelon, which you’ll typically find during the peak of summer.

I find that the squeeze of lime can help balance out the sweetness of the watermelon and round out the overall flavors of the sorbet. Of course, if your watermelon isn’t super sweet then you can add a bit of sweetener like honey or granulated sugar, and omit the lime.
If you want to make this Ninja Creami sorbet super duper creamy, I recommend adding a splash of milk (can use dairy-free milk) during the Re-Spin step to get it super creamy.
I can’t wait for you to try this recipe! When you do, snap a pic and tag me @saltnsprinkles, and leave a comment and review so I can see that you made it. Enjoy!

- Blend the watermelon: Add the fresh watermelon to a blender (in batches if needed), along with the lime juice and sweetener, if using.
- Puree until smooth: Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Freeze in pints: Pour the mixture evenly between two Ninja Creami pints, snap on the lids, and freeze for at least 24 hours.
- Process: Run the frozen pints through the Ninja Creami using the “Sorbet” setting.
- Re-spin as needed: The texture will likely be crumbly after the first spin. Use “Re-Spin” one or two more times until it’s smooth and creamy, adding a splash of milk before each Re-Spin for extra creaminess if desired.
- Serve and enjoy: Scoop and serve right away for the best taste and texture!

Here is a quick overview of what you need to make this healthy watermelon sorbet at home:
- Watermelon: The star of the show! This is the perfect recipe to make during the summer when watermelon is at its peak freshness and peak flavor.
- Lime: Optional, but adds acidity and brightness that balances watermelon’s sweetness. It also gives the sorbet a slightly more complex, less purely-sweet flavor profile.
- Honey: If your watermelon isn’t sweet enough on its own, adding a sweetener like honey can help make this sorbet sweeter.
- Milk, or non-dairy milk: Helps to smooth out the texture during the Re-Spin process, making the final product creamy rather than crumbly. Technically, this would turn the sorbet into a sherbet, which is also delicious!

HOW LONG DOES THIS SORBET TAKE TO MAKE?
This healthy watermelon sorbet recipe has a few different components to it, but they all come together quickly and easily.
The full recipe is below, but here’s the gist of it:
- Prep time: 15 mins
- Rest time: 24 hours
In total, this recipe will take about 15 minutes total to make! This does not include the time that the sorbet mixture needs to freeze overnight.
HOW TO STORE THIS WATERMELON SORBET?

NINJA CREAMI WATERMELON SORBET FAQ
1. Can I use frozen watermelon instead of fresh watermelon?
Yes, you can! Frozen watermelon works just as well as fresh watermelon in this recipe. If your blender struggles with fully frozen fruit chunks, just let the watermelon thaw slightly before using.
2. Do I have to add the lime?
No, the lime is completely optional. It adds a little brightness and cuts through the sweetness of the watermelon, but if you want a sweeter, more straightforward watermelon flavor, feel free to skip it.
3. Do I need to add honey or sugar to my watermelon?
No, not necessarily. I recommend tasting your mixture first after you blend it. A ripe summer watermelon is often sweet enough on its own, but you can always add sweetener a little at a time until it tastes right to you.
4. Why does my sorbet look crumbly right after processing?
This is completely normal! The first “Sorbet” spin often results in a crumbly texture. That’s what the “Re-Spin” function is for. Use the “Re-Spin” feature once or twice to smooth it out considerably.
5. Do I need to add milk? What does it do?
I recommend adding a few splashes of milk if you want your sorbet to be super creamy and not crumbly. Techinically, adding milk turns it into sherbet, by the way!
6. Can I use a non-dairy milk?
Yes, any type of milk works fine here like oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, etc. Use whichever you prefer or have on hand.
7. How long does the sorbet keep in the freezer?
This watermelon sorbet is best enjoyed within 1–2 weeks for optimal texture. If you have leftovers, be sure to smooth the mixture down so it’s flat inside of the pint, snap the lid back on, and place it in the freezer. Use the Re-Spin feature before enjoying again!
8. Is it possible to Re-Spin the sorbet too many times?
Yes, technially it’s possible to over-process it, which can make the mixture melty. Stick to just one or two Re-Spins rather than running it through again and again.
9. Do I need two Ninja Creami pints for this recipe?
Yes, this recipe is for two pints, but you can cut this recipe in half to make just one pint, or scale it up to make even more! Just be sure not to overfill each pint past the max fill line.
10. Can I make this without a Ninja Creami?
This recipe is specifically designed around the Ninja Creami machine. HERE’s a link to it, if you don’t have one yet.

Healthy Homemade Watermelon Sorbet
Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 c seedless watermelon about 900 g
- 1/2 fresh lime optional
- 2-3 tbsp honey or granulated sugar, optional
- 2-4 tbsp milk sub: non-dairy milk, optional
Instructions
- Place the fresh watermelon in a blender. You may need to work in batches, depending on the size of your blender.
- Squeeze in the lime and pour in the sweetener, if using. You can omit the lime if you want your sorbet to be on the sweeter side. Add additional sweetener to taste, but a sweet watermelon will not need it!
- Blender the mixture until smooth.
- Divide the mixture between two Ninja Creami pints. Snap on the lids and freeze for at least 24 hours.
- The next day, process the watermelon sorbet using the “Sorbet” option on the Ninja Creami.
- The mixture will be crumbly. Place the pint back in the machine and use the "Re-Spin" one or two more times until creamy. For the creamiest sorbet, add a few tablespoons of milk to the mixture before each "Re-Spin". Technically, this turns it into sherbet!
- Enjoy!
