These Christmas ice cubes are such an easy holiday craft to make this holiday season! Made with sprigs of rosemary and fresh cranberries, these round holiday ice cubes become a festive addition to any holiday cocktail or mocktail.

I’m in love with these round Christmas tree ice cubes that I made for the holidays. The key to these beautiful ice cubes is to use fresh sprigs of rosemary, bright red cranberries, and filtered water. Because these ice cubes are large and round, they melt slower than regular ice cubes, which keeps drinks cold for longer!

WhaT Materials Do I need?

To make the round ice cubes that I feature in this blog post, you’ll need a round ice ball maker. HERE is a link to the exact one that I used, also pictured below.

The biggest advantage of making ice cubes in this round ice cube tray is that the ice cubes melt slower so they last longer. This way guests don’t have to keep refilling their glasses with ice cubes, which leaves more time for mingling!

If you don’t have a round ice ball maker (although I think you’ll love this one) then you can use a traditional rectangular ice cube tray. This Christmas craft is versatile and can be made many ways.

What else do i need?

Besides the round ice ball maker, the rest of the materials for these DIY Christmas ice cubes can be found in your local grocery store! For this Christmas decor idea, be sure to also grab:

  • 4-6 stems of rosemary

  • Fresh cranberries (you can find these either in the produce section, or frozen fruit section of your grocery store)

Anything Else I should KNow Before getting started?

To make these cranberry holiday ice cubes look their best, here are a few tips:

  • Because the ice cubes freeze from the outside-in, the inside of each ice cube will have some water crystals in them, which is just part of the freezing process. However, use filtered water for this holiday craft to help the ice cubes look clear and not too cloudy. I also like to boil my filtered water a few times to be sure it’s free of impurities that could muddy the water.

  • Fresh cranberries come many shades of red. I prefer to use the bright red cranberries for the best pop of color in the ice cubes.

How Do I Make these cranberry christmas ice cubes?

Here’s how you can make these super easy frozen Christmas decorations at home!

Ingredients

  • 4-6 sprigs of fresh rosemary

  • Fresh cranberries

  • Filtered water

Materials

  • Round ice ball tray, like this one: link. Makes 6 large ice cubes.*Because this is the one that I used, the directions below are for this particular ice ball tray. If you use a different one, the assembly directions may be slightly different.

Directions

  • Snip your rosemary into six 2” long pieces.

  • Separate the top and bottom pieces of the ice tray. Place 2-3 cranberries into the bottom of each mold.

  • Add a piece of rosemary to each mold. If you want your rosemary “Christmas tree” to stand up in the center of the ice cube, take your rosemary pieces and stick them through the holes in the rubber ice tray cover. Seal the top and bottom the trays together.

  • Use a small funnel to pour filtered water into each ball.

  • Freeze overnight.

What Do You Use These cranberry ICe Cubes For?

These cranberry rosemary ice cubes are great for a variety of holiday occasions! Because these holiday DIY ice cubes are large and round, they melt more slowly which helps to keep things colder for longer. Here are a few Christmas decor ideas for these ice cubes:
