Mango Matcha Latte
This refreshing mango matcha latte combines the tropical sweetness of ripe mango with the earthy richness of matcha green tea for a vibrant, energizing iced drink that’s perfect for summer.

WHY I MADE THIS MANGO MATCHA LATTE
I quit drinking coffee back in 2017, and although I don’t miss the taste or the jitteriness that I got from coffee, sometimes I do miss the act of having a morning beverage ritual. When I was introduced to matcha about a year later, I immediately fell in love with the taste and the light energy that it gave me. Right then and there I knew that matcha would be the perfect replacement for coffee.
Matcha, in case you didn’t know, is the powdered form of shade-grown green tea. It tastes amazing prepared hot or cold. And not only that, but matcha also has so many health benefits. There’s too many to list here, but just to give you an idea:
- Matcha is rich in antioxidants, specifically EGCG
- Matcha contains L-theanine, which promotes a calm focus without the jitteriness of caffeine
- Matcha has high levels of chlorophyll, which helps with detoxification
- Regular matcha consumption may reduce the risk of high cholesterol and high blood pressure
The list goes on! I encourage you to do your own research if you’re interested in the health benefits of matcha. Green tea is generally amazing for you, but matcha is even better because you’re consuming the entire tea leaf, versus just the leaf water (which is basically what tea is).
So, I don’t need to convince you to add matcha to your everyday routine! Personally, I try to make a matcha at least 3 days a week. And one way I’m really enjoying my morning matcha ritual right now is by making this iced mango matcha latte at home.
I’ve been seeing mango matcha lattes on summer menus at different cafes recently, and I just knew that I had to try making it myself. And, the results were great! You’re going to love this easy iced matcha latte variation as much as I do.

HOW TO MAKE MANGO MATCHA LATTE RECIPE
Making a homemade mango matcha latte couldn’t be easier than this! If you’re like me and you like to make a fresh matcha latte nearly every morning, then you know that speediness and taste go hand in hand with that morning matcha ritual.
That’s why this mango matcha latte recipe is super easy to make. So easy, that you could prepare it with one eye open and the other still resting in bed. The full, detailed instructions are in the recipe card below, but here’s the gist of how to make this mango matcha latte for yourself:
- Prepare the matcha: Pour the matcha powder into a bowl. Add the hot water and use a chasen to whisk the matcha for 1-2 minutes, until the matcha is smooth and free of any clumps.
- Make the mango puree: Add the fruit of a mango to a food processor. Blend the fruit until the mango is finely broken down.
- Combine for your mango matcha latte: Scoop the mango puree into the bottom of a tall glass. Fill the glass with ice, then milk, then the prepared matcha. Enjoy!
MANGO MATCHA KEY INGREDIENTS
There’s just a few ingredients that you need to make this mango latte at home. Take a look at everything that you need here:
- Mango: The riper the better for a sweet, delicious mango treat that pairs perfectly with this summer matcha drink. Mango season is from May to September, so the best mangos you’ll find in stores will be available during those peak summer months. Look for a mango that has a bit of a yellow, red, and green gradient on it. Hold it near your nose and take a quick sniff. Does it smell ripe? That’s when you know you’ve picked a great mango.
- Matcha: Matcha lovers take their matcha seriously, and they all swear by their favorite brand of high quality matcha. Make sure you pick a brand that’s at least culinary grade. Or, select ceremonial grade for an ever better quality that is quite the step up. Do a bit of research to find out which matcha powders are the best. There’s quite a few brands available in stores and online, like this one that you can get on Amazon.
- Milk: You can’t make a matcha latte without some sort of milk. Choose a non-dairy milk if you’re vegan or follow a dairy-free diet. I think oat milk is best for lattes because it has a richness that mimics traditional milk, without the lactose, of course. My ride or die is definitely Oatly, so good!

HOW LONG DOES THIS MANGO MATCHA TAKE TO MAKE?
You’re in luck! This recipe is super simple to make. So simple, that I could just whisper the directions into your ear once and you’d be off to the races with it. You could easily whip this recipe together in about 10 minutes if you’re in a hurry.
However, since this recipe is an iced matcha latte I like to let my matcha cool down in a fridge for a bit first before combining it with the milk and ice. That way, everything stays nice and cold. If you cool your matcha in the fridge before using, then expect this recipe to take about 25 minutes total.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Prep time: 10 mins
- Rest time: 15 minutes
- Total time: 25 minutes
HOW TO STORE THIS MATCHA LATTE?
This mango matcha latte recipe can’t be stored, sadly, so you have to drink it as soon as it’s made.
If you want to make some ahead of time, though, I bet you could prepare all of the components separately and store them in the fridge so you can whip up a mango matcha latte when the mood hits.
If you go that route, I’d recommend storing the mango puree and matcha concentrate separately in the fridge for no more than 3 days.
By the way, I do have a matcha concentrate recipe that I love to prepare on Mondays that can be used for matcha lattes throughout the week. Let me know if you’d like to see that recipe!

MANGO MATCHA LATTE FAQ
1. Can I use store-bought mango puree instead of fresh mango?
Yes! If you’re short on time, canned or bottled mango puree works well. Just make sure it’s 100% mango with no added sugars or preservatives if you want to keep it natural.
2. What type of matcha should I use?
For lattes, culinary grade matcha is ideal—it blends well and is more cost-effective than ceremonial grade. Just make sure it’s a vibrant green color, which indicates freshness.
3. What’s the best milk for this recipe?
Any milk works! Oat, almond, coconut, or dairy milk are all great options. Oat milk tends to create a creamy texture that pairs nicely with the earthy matcha and sweet mango.
4. Can I make it ahead of time?
You can prep the mango puree and matcha in advance and store them separately in the fridge for up a few days. Assemble the latte fresh for the best layered look and taste.
5. Do I have to sweeten the matcha?
Nope! Sweetener is optional. The natural sweetness of the mango often balances out the bitterness of the matcha, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add honey, agave, or maple syrup to the matcha.
6. Can I make it without ice?
Yes, but ice helps create the distinct layering and keeps the drink cold and refreshing. If you want it chilled without ice, refrigerate each component before assembling.
7. Can I turn this into a blended drink or smoothie?
Absolutely! Blend the mango, milk, ice, and matcha for a refreshing, creamy smoothie version.
8. Can I use a different fruit instead of mango?
Definitely. Pineapple, peach, or even passion fruit can create fun tropical variations—just puree and swap it in the same way.
9. What’s the caffeine content of matcha?
Matcha has about 60–70 mg of caffeine per teaspoon, so this latte has roughly that amount. It provides a smoother, longer-lasting energy boost compared to coffee.

- Ice
Instructions
Prepare the matcha
- Pour the matcha powder into a bowl.
- Fill a kettle with water, and heat until just under boiling, about 165 F.
- Add the hot water into the bowl with the matcha, and use a chasen to whisk the matcha for 1-2 minutes, in a zig-zag pattern, until the matcha is smooth and free of any clumps.
- Optional: add 1 tsp of sweetener of choice, and whisk again until it's fully combined with the hot matcha.
- Place the matcha in the fridge for about 15 minutes to cool down.

- Meanwhile, slice each side of ripe mango, just past the seed.
