Healthy Vegan Chocolate Milkshake
I love love love this healthy vegan chocolate milkshake! I’m not kidding when I say I could drink one every day for breakfast, lunch, and maybe even as an end-of-the-day dessert. This non-dairy chocolate smoothie is delicious, chocolate-y and filling. Every ingredient in this vegan chocolate shake recipe is all-natural and refined-sugar free. Even without the added sugar, this smoothie is lightly sweet and wonderful just as-is. It honestly tastes like a chocolate shake you’d get at a fast food restaurant, but this one is simpler, healthier, tastes better, and dairy free!
Every ingredient in this chocolate shake is there for a purpose, and they may look surprising at first but they actually go together to make a tasty vegan chocolate milkshake!
What are the ingredients for this chocolate milkshake?
Roasted sweet potato: thickens the vegan chocolate shake while also adding smoothness, sweetness, and packing lots of vitamins and minerals!
Frozen ripe banana: makes the shake wonderfully creamy. It’s important to use a frozen banana to make the shake cold.
Peanut butter: evens out the texture and balances the sweetness from the sweet potato and banana. I like the Justin’s brand.
Cocoa powder: because CHOCOLATE! Make sure you use 100% cocoa powder that’s not sweetened with anything. Something like this.
How do you roast the sweet potato?
If you’ve never roasted a sweet potato before, here’s a quick guide on how I do it:
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
Rub the outside of your sweet potato with olive oil. Pierce it all over with a fork.
Bake for 45-60 minutes, until a fork inserted in the center of the potato goes through easily.
Remove the potato from the oven and allow it to cool completely. For an extra-cold shake, refrigerate your cooled sweet potato before using for this recipe.
I’m pretty sure that after one sip of this vegan chocolate shake you’ll be just as hooked on it as I am!
