This chocolate chip cookie skillet is made in an air fryer! Air fryer chocolate chip cookies are one of my new favorite skillet dessert recipes because they’re so easy to bake. Thanks to the help of an air fryer, you can enjoy this cookie in 10 minutes flat!

I was recently introduced to the wonders of air fryers when I finally got my very own air fryer last month! Ever since then, I’ve been experimenting with what I can cook up in my Gotham air fryer.

At first, I thought air fryers were mostly used to cooking or reheating crispy food, but after a few experiments I realized air fryers are really just tiny ovens. And what are ovens great for? Baking. And that’s how this air fryer cookie cake recipe came to be!

Are air fryer cookies good?

While this air fryer cookie skillet is the BEST recipe there is, I must admit that not all air fryer cookie recipes are created equal. I originally wanted to use my gluten free chocolate chip cookie recipe for this air fryer skillet dessert, but the result was not great.

So, I tweaked that recipe a little bit to make sure this air fryer cookie is gooey, chewy, and soft, which is what we all love in our skillet desserts, right?

What are the ingredients for this air fryer chocolate chip cookie skillet?

The full directions for this air fryer dessert recipe are below, but here’s the gist of what you’ll need:

So how do you make this air fryer cookie cake?

If you know how to make a cookie, then you’ll have no issues making this cookie cake! Here’s how you do it:

  • First, line the bottom of your air fryer basket with parchment paper.

  • To make the cookie dough, mix the almond butter, applesauce, vanilla, and coconut oil together in a large bowl until creamy.

  • Add in the brown sugar and mix again until incorporated.

  • Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix it gently until the dough forms. The dough will be thick!

  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

  • Press the cookie dough into the air fryer basket so it’s flat.

  • Bake in the air fryer for 10 minutes. The cookie should be golden brown on top.

  • Serve with ice cream!

How long do you cook this cookie in the air fryer?

This air fryer cookie takes just 10 minutes to bake at 350 F.

Can you air fry cookies without parchment paper?

Perhaps, but I have not tried it and would not recommend it. The parchment paper ensures the cookie dough does not melt through the holes in the air fryer basket as it cooks, which could lead to smoking and burning (not to mention ruined cookies).

What brand of air fryer do you use?

My air fryer is a Gotham Air Fryer XL 3.8 Liter. I love it!
