Strawberry Chia Seed Tea

Strawberry Chia Seed Tea combines the subtle flavors of tea with the fruity sweetness of strawberries and the nutritional boost of chia seeds. It’s perfect for a summer day or a cozy afternoon.

Prep Time10 minutes
Yield10 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tea bags*
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • strawberries (chopped)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Bring water to a boil on your stove. The amount of water you boil will depend on the size of the pitcher that you'll store your chia seed tea in. You'll want one that holds at least 3 cups.
  • Turn off the heat. Place the tea bags in the water and steep for about 5 minutes, or as directed according to package instructions.
  • Remove the tea bags, and cool the tea to room temperature. This took about 2 hours.
  • Transfer the tea to your pitcher for storage. Add the chia seeds, and give the pitcher a vigorous stir to incorporate the seeds so they're evenly distributed and don't clump together. A little bit of clumping is normal, though.
  • Place the pitcher in the fridge to chill for at least 2 hours, or until cold.
  • Add your chopped strawberries and sweetener to the tea just before you're ready to serve.
  • Store in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Notes

*I used hibiscus tea for mine, but you can use any tea you'd like. I recommend a fruity tea for the best flavor. Also, try to pick a brand that does not use plastics tea bags. You can find lists about this online, but I used Republic of Tea because their bags are plastic-free and compostable.
