The Best Gluten-Free Bakeries in L.A.

If you live in L.A., you know that there’s no shortage of gluten-free restaurants and bakeries in the city. We’re lucky like that. And thankfully, gluten-free baking has come a longgg way from what it used to be. These days, gluten-free baked goods taste just as good as the mainstream stuff, so, I wanted to share a few local Los Angeles gluten-free bakeries that I’ve fallen in love with. Whether you’re a local or just breezing through the city, make sure you get a taste of these yummy treats!

  1. WOW Bakes

Sharon of Wow Bakes bakes up some of the best gluten-free sourdough treats I’ve ever tasted! Sometimes I get random cravings for a sweet snack and she swoops in to rescue me with her outstanding donuts and pop tarts. Her online bakery is known for sourdough bagels, cookies, and pop tarts, and they’re all serious game-changers. The sourdough base in her treats gives them a nice ‘tart’ flavor that balances out the sweetness. I’m sure you’ll love her unique flavors just as much as I do.

2. Rising Hearts Bakery

I used to work realllly close to Rising Hearts Bakery, so I would spoil myself with their yummy treats all the time. This cute bakery is all gluten-free and they’re known for their delectable cupcakes, cakes, and breads. My personal favorites are their sandwich cookies and brownies. I don’t work near that side of town anymore, but visiting this little bakery used to be such a highlight of my day.

3. Karma Baker

If you’re like me, you probably spend a good chunk of time drooling over all of the yummy foods on Instagram. Karma Baker caught my attention with their thick gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies and let me tell you... they were just as delicious as they looked. This bakery is also known for their cakes, cupcakes, and donuts. But, no surprise that the star of the show for me is still the sandwich cookies. You won’t be disappointed! Karma Baker is located a bit outside L.A. in Westlake Village, and totally worth a visit.

4. Honey Hi

If you’re looking for an allergy-friendly restaurant in L.A., Honey Hi is your spot! While not technically a bakery, Honey Hi is one of the best lunch spots in town. Their menu is gluten-free, vegan, tasty, and just all around allergy-safe. They’re known for their delicious pancakes, grain bowls, and smoothies (the chocolate milkshake is **chefs kiss**). I’m also obsessed with their turmeric latte, which is perfect for cozy fall mornings or anytime, really.

5. Erin McKenna’s Bakery

I visited Erin McKenna’s Bakery for the first time a few months ago to pick up some cupcakes for a friend’s birthday. After my friend bit into the first cupcake, I knew these were the real deal. Her face said it all. The cupcakes are so moist and flavorful, it’s obvious that their bakers have the magic touch! Erin McKenna’s is known for their cupcakes and cakes, but don’t sleep on the brownies! They are chocolate-y and soft and not too sweet, which I love.

These gluten-free bakeries all have incredible offerings, and their very existence is reassuring for gluten-sensitive people who don’t want to miss out on delicious desserts. They’re so good, you won’t even realize they’re gluten-free! Let me know if you’ve been to any of these spots or plan to visit soon. If you have any other local Los Angeles bakeries that should be added to the list, let me know about it here or on Instagram! I’m always on the hunt for gluten-free and vegan goodness.

And remember you can always order some fresh gluten-free and vegan treats from Salt N Sprinkles, too!
